The European Handball Federation (EHF) will show coverage of the German Bundesliga on its streaming platform, ehfTV.com, after acquiring rights for the domestic league.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the EHF’s partnership commenced with live coverage of the game between THW Kiel and Füchse Berlin yesterday (Thursday).
The EHF’s coverage of the Bundesliga will be geoblocked in Germany and will be unavailable in selected markets due to existing rights agreements.
The governing body added that advanced talks were taking place to secure content from other top national leagues.
Peter Vargo, managing director of the governing body’s EHF Marketing division, said: “Bringing Europe’s top international leagues to ehfTV.com is a huge development; for the very first time handball fans worldwide will be able to follow the continent’s best teams not just in the Velux EHF Champions League but also as they play for their national titles.”
