International sports broadcaster Eleven Sports has expanded a rights deal with Italian Serie D football club Palermo to cover overseas markets.
Eleven last month struck a deal with Palermo and fellow Serie D club Foggia. Both clubs have been hit by a series of financial difficulties in recent years and have reformed under new identities this season.
Palermo has announced that it has now sold its international rights to Eleven. The deal begins with Palermo’s home match against Cittanovese on Sunday.
Palermo said it had taken note of overseas fans’ requests during the opening weeks of the season and opted to expand the Eleven Sports agreement.
Under the deal struck last month, Eleven Sports introduced a new €5.99- ($6.58-) per-month subscription for Foggia or Palermo fans to add all their team’s matches to the broadcaster’s other programming, which includes Italy’s volleyball Superlega.
Eleven Sports already holds rights to Italy’s Serie C until the end of the 2022-23 season.
Serie D is split into nine regional divisions and Palermo currently sits top of Group I after winning its opening five matches.
