EMC and Nala set up South American joint venture

Sports and entertainment investment company Evolution Media Capital linked up with private investment company Nala to form Nala EMC, an investment banking and advisory company for the Latin American market. Nala EMC, which will be based in Mexico City, will provide services in the sport, media rights, television, film, video game, digital media and broadcast sectors.

EMC co-managing partner Robert Stanley said that “fuelled by strong economic growth, Latin America has become one of the most viable media and entertainment markets in the world.” Nala co-chairman Emilio Diez Barroso said the aim would be to establish Nala EMC as “the go-to gateway into the region for the global media and entertainment community.”

EMC was formed in 2008 as a joint venture between the Creative Artists Agency entertainment and sports agency and the former team from the media and sports group at financial management company Merrill Lynch. Since its creation, EMC has advised the Pacific-12 US collegiate conference and Major League Baseball’s Texas Rangers on broadcast deals.
