ESPN acquires Brazilian football rights

Sports pay-television broadcaster ESPN acquired rights in Latin America and the Caribbean to the Brazilian football league, the Campeonato Série A, and the Campeonato Paulista, São Paulo’s state championship, in a four-year deal with rights-holder Globo, Brazil’s biggest media group.

The deal covers the period 2012 to 2015.

ESPN will broadcast up to 100 games per year to non-Portuguese speaking territories across the Latin America and Caribbean regions, plus the weekly magazine programme FootBrazil.
