Spanish-language sports broadcaster ESPN Deportes has struck a deal to show next season’s NFL American football Super Bowl in the US.
ESPN Deportes sealed the rights agreement with the CBS network, which has rights for the clash in the US, with the approval of the league.
It will be the second time that ESPN Deportes has shown the NFL’s showpiece encounter after the broadcaster aired coverage of the Denver Broncos’ 24-10 victory over the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50 in 2016.
Next season’s Super Bowl will take place on February 3, 2019 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
ESPN Deportes already offers weekly Monday Night Football games in Spanish and shows live coverage of a wild-card play-off game, as well as the NFL Live and NFL Esta Noche studio shows.
Financial details of the sublicensing deal were not disclosed.
