The Fox International Channels broadcast subsidiary of Rupert Murdoch’s media conglomerate News Corporation is drawing up plans to launch a summer competition featuring Europe’s top football clubs, according to the Guardian newspaper.
The report said that News Corporation’s television channels would show the tournament worldwide.
The newspaper added that the inaugural edition of the 16-team competition could take place in 2015, with clubs such as Manchester United, Chelsea, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich set to be invited to participate.
Cities in Europe, Asia and the Americas are interested in hosting the tournament’s games.
