Fox International Channels, the broadcast division of media company 21st Century Fox, has launched its Fox Sports channels in Nigeria through a carriage agreement with new pay-television platform African Cable TV.
Fox Sports and Fox Sports 2 are amongst eight FIC channels that will be introduced on ACTV’s direct to home service.
FIC said the partnership with ACTV boosts its African reach to more than 17.3 million subscribers, with up to 18,000 new subscribers in Nigeria now able to access FIC’s sports, entertainment and factual channels.
Hannelie Bekker, managing director at Fox International Channels Africa, said: “The West African market is growing rapidly, and is full of possibilities for our brands and business strategy.
“ACTV’s direct to home premium package provides content to low- and middle-income subscribers, and allows us to offer our brands to even more subscribers, who will be able to enjoy our high-quality, premium content.”
