Canadian pay-television sports broadcaster TSN and French-language sister network RDS have agreed a multi-year extension through to 2019 for their exclusive rights to the Formula One motor-racing championship.
The new contract takes effect from the 2015 F1 season, with TSN and RDS continuing to broadcast all races, as well as qualifying and practice sessions and replay broadcasts.
TSN and RDS have broadcast Formula One in Canada for more than 20 years and the rights extension comes after the weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix, which Australia’s Daniel Ricciardo won for Red Bull Racing.
The race weekend was also marked by the announcement that Montreal authorities had reached an agreement in principal with Formula One chief executive Bernie Ecclestone on a new 10-year race deal for the Canadian GP that will take effect from the 2015 season.
