Fox Sports coverage grants AMA Supercross broadcast landmark

US motorcycling series AMA Supercross has secured its first-ever live coverage on the Fox network for its 2015 season.

AMA Supercross’ commercial rights-holder Feld Motor Sports and the Fox Sports division of the Fox network have said that Fox Sports will broadcast live the event to be held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on April 25.

The remainder of the 2015 season’s 16 events will be split between pay-television channels Fox Sports 1 and 2. The 2015 AMA Supercross campaign will open on January 3, in Anaheim, California, with the first of 12 live races on Fox Sports 1.

Three races currently are scheduled to air live on Fox Sports 2, with all races available live through the Fox Sports Go app, which will provide live streaming of every event.

Organisers added that AMA Supercross’ international television footprint, which reached over 100 countries in 2014, will be announced soon and will once again include live television coverage in Australia, among other markets.

Ken Hudgens, chief operating officer of Feld Motor Sports, said: “The 2015 television package is the strongest ever and signifies a major milestone with the first ever live airing on Fox broadcast network.  The riders, teams, manufacturers, sponsors, and entire sport will be elevated by the live network broadcast on Fox.  This is a major announcement that is great for everyone involved, including the broad viewing audience.”
