Public-service broadcaster France Télévisions has built on its strong start to coverage of the 2022 Six Nations Championship, with Saturday’s game between France and Ireland drawing an average of 6.5 million viewers, some 700,000 greater than the equivalent fixture from last year’s edition of the rugby union championship.

France continued its winning start to the 2022 tournament by defeating Ireland 30-24 in Paris. Broadcast by France 2, the game generated a 40.4-per-cent average audience share, with the audience peaking at 8.5 million viewers.
