Gannett picks up Perform’s ePlayer for USA Today websites

Digital media company Perform has agreed a deal to provide its ePlayer sports video-on-demand service to more than 100 of the Gannett media company’s digital media platforms in the US, including USA Today Sports Media Group’s portfolio of local websites.

American professional and collegiate sports action will be available on Gannett’s digital platforms through the ePlayer. Perform is an official provider of sports news and highlights for NBA basketball, NHL ice hockey, Major League Baseball and Major League Soccer, as well as a number of university competitions, including the Southeastern Conference, Pac-12, Big Ten, Big 12 and Atlantic Coast Conference. Coverage of PGA Tour golf, women’s and men’s tennis and Ultimate Fighting Championship mixed martial arts events will also be available.

Perform and USA Today Sports Media Group will also produce original collegiate sports programming for a USA Today-branded channel on the ePlayer.

“This partnership allows us to continue to deliver on our mission to provide sports fans throughout the US with the best content in the world, regardless of format,” USA Today Sports Media Group president Tom Beusse said.

Perform Americas managing director Juan Delgado added: “USA Today Sports Media Group is one of the most influential, diverse and wide-reaching networks of sports properties, and we’re looking forward to joining forces to bring our premium pro and college sports video programming to their millions of engaged sports fans. This partnership demonstrates our ability to deliver premium sports video, produce original programming for digital audiences – and solidifies our strong position in the US digital sports market.”
