Thai media conglomerate GMM Grammy acquired rights for English football’s League Cup competition, in a three-year deal, from 2012-13 to 2014-15.
Thai news website The Nation reported that Grammy’s managing director Kobkiat Sangwanich said the broadcaster would continue to add sports content. “Grammy will not stop at with this, but continue to select the best content for Thai sports’ fans,” he said. The Nation said Grammy was in talks to acquire rights for the JLeague, Japan’s top football league.
Grammy will broadcast live coverage of the English League Cup on its GMM Sport One and GMM Football Plus pay-television channels.
Grammy’s chairman, Paiboon Damrongchaitham, said the company was in talks with free-to-air broadcasters about “co-broadcasting” the competition.
