IMG to market European Rallycross rights

The IMG agency has agreed a 10-year deal, from 2013 to 2022, with the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile, motor racing’s global governing body, to promote its European Rallycross Championship.

As part of the deal, IMG will sell the championship’s media and commercial rights worldwide, with the agency’s motorsport and media divisions collaborating on rights sales to television and digital platforms.

The agreement represents IMG’s first partnership with the FIA. The agency said that the long-term ambition was for the series to develop into a World Championship “in the coming years.”

European Rallycross currently has three categories: Supercar, Super1600 and TouringCar. Supercar will be marketed as the most prominent category from 2014, with the other two categories changing format, IMG said.
