Manchester United has signed a three-year partnership with Japanese commercial broadcaster Fuji TV that will allow the English Premier League football club’s official television channel, MUTV, to be launched in Japan.
The content, including delayed league matches, interviews and behind-the-scenes footage, will be available on the Fuji One, Two and Next channels.
MUTV is managed and produced by the club.
“The dedicated channel has a reach of 60 million worldwide and the club is delighted to be partnering with Fuji TV, one of Japan’s major TV channels, to bring MUTV to Japan,” Manchester United’s commercial director, Richard Arnold, said. “This partnership further demonstrates Manchester United’s global reach and allows us to engage with the almost four million followers we have in Japan.”
The partnership will feed increased Japanese interest in United following the summer signing of national team star Shinji Kagawa from German Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund.
