Motors TV broadens UK reach with Virgin Media deal

Pan-European motor sport television channel Motors TV has expanded its reach in the UK by agreeing a new carriage deal with pay-television operator Virgin Media.

Under the agreement, Motors TV moves from Virgin Media’s XL TV package to the more widely accessed M+ TV package.

Motors TV said that following its recent expansion to digital television platform Freeview and telecommunications company BT’s YouView service, the Virgin Media agreement has expanded its total reach to 19 million customers in the UK.

Motors TV’s head of programming and acquisitions Frederic Viger said: “We heard a lot of fans suggesting we join Virgin Media’s M+ TV package and, thanks to Virgin Media, we’ve been able to make this a reality.

“It has been an important year for us in this respect, with Freeview and YouView both significantly broadening our reach. As such, moving to Virgin Media’s M+ TV package is the perfect way to end 2014.”

Motors TV holds rights to properties including the World Rally Championship, V8 Supercars, MX World Championship and the World Endurance Championship.
