Pan-European motor sport television channel Motors TV has secured free-to-air exposure in the UK after agreeing a deal with telecommunications company Arqiva’s Connect TV service.
Motors TV is already available in the UK on the BSkyB and Virgin Media pay-television platforms and has been broadcasting since 2002. From February 27, Motors TV will be available on Connect TV via channel 240 on the Freeview platform.
Connect TV enables broadcasters to combine content delivered on the UK terrestrial broadcast network alongside IP delivered content and present it on a single channel number in the Freeview electronic program guide.
Frederic Viger, head of programming and acquisitions at Motors TV, said: “(This) was something that prospective viewers had been calling for and I’d like to think that we’ve responded to their wishes. The proliferation of internet-connected television made this a very attractive platform.”
