NBCUniversal has agreed a content and advertising deal with Snapchat that will allow the US media company to produce original shows for the social media platform.
The length of the multi-year agreement was not disclosed.
The deal will cover sports, as well as news and entertainment. As part of the agreement, NBCU will develop and sell advertising packages incorporating Snapchat’s expanded set of advertising products into its sponsorship, mobile and video offerings.
Earlier this year, the NBC Olympics division of NBCU agreed a content partnership with Snapchat to enable video content to be shared via the platform’s ‘Live Stories’ feature.
Ron Lamprecht, NBCU's executive vice-president of business development and digital distribution, said: “From entertainment to news and sports, NBCUniversal has an unparalleled line-up and Snapchat is the perfect partner to help us reach millions of fans where they are every day.”
