UK pay-television broadcaster BSkyB renewed its rights deal for American football’s National Football League for a further three seasons, from 2012 to 2014.
Sky will show over 60 live matches per season, including overseas matches played in London at Wembley stadium, the play-offs, and the season finale, the Super Bowl.
During the regular season, two live matches will be shown every Sunday night, three matches on Thanksgiving Day, plus regular Thursday night matches. Sky will also show additional support programming throughout the season, including the NFL RedZone score update show every Sunday via red button interactive television, and the twice-weekly NFL Total Access magazine show.
The deal covers rights across television, mobile, internet and tablet devices.
Last week, UK commercial broadcaster Channel 4 renewed a deal to show 17 live Sunday night matches in the forthcoming season.
Sky’s coverage kicks off with tonight’s season-opening match between the Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers.
