The Professional Darts Corporation’s 2020 Nordic Darts Masters event, which is being run in conjunction with Nordic Entertainment (Nent) Group, has been cancelled.
The PDC and pan-Nordic broadcaster Nent tried to reschedule the event for October, after being due to take place originally on June 12-13.
Due to Covid-19 global pandemic, the inaugural event will now take place next year at the at Forum Copenhagen Arena on June 11-13, 2021.
Matt Porter, chief executive at the PDC, said: “The Nordic and Baltic region has enjoyed real growth in recent years and it has been encouraging to see the development of players, and the Nordic Darts Masters will be a great opportunity for them to show their talents on a global stage against the biggest names in the sport next June.
“This year has seen unprecedented disruption to our schedule, but we can now look forward with anticipation alongside our partners Nent Group to next June’s Nordic Darts Masters.”
Nent holds the exclusive Nordic rights to the PDC World Darts Championship, Premier League Darts, World Matchplay, World Grand Prix and Grand Slam of Darts.
This year, when Covid-19 meant no live events, Nent acquired rights in the Nordics to the PDC’s new Home Tour, which saw players to compete against one another from their respective homes.
