Media group AMC Networks has acquired rights in the Czech Republic and Slovakia to the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) Home Tour series.
The PDC Home Tour was announced earlier this week and involves players competing against one another from their respective homes in the absence of regular-season events due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
AMC Networks will broadcast the Tour on its Sport1 and Sport2 pay-television channels, with local-language commentary.
The PDC Home Tour comprises 32 consecutive nights of live darts, beginning tonight (Friday), featuring players competing against one another through live video calls in what will mark the PDC’s first-ever home-staged event.
The Home Tour sits separately from events on the usual calendar and, as such, the Matchroom Sport agency can agree new media-rights deals for the PDC event.
Commercial and pay-television broadcaster Nova is the current rights-holder in the Czech Republic and Slovakia for the PDC World Championship and often picks up rights to a host of PDC tournaments throughout the year.
The newly-created tournament will also be streamed on the StreamAMG-powered PDCTV streaming platform to all registered users for free.
International streaming service DAZN announced a deal for the PDC Home Tour yesterday in each of its nine markets.
