This year’s edition of the Pegasus World Cup Championship Invitational Series US horse-racing event will benefit from television exposure in sub-Saharan Africa and the Caribbean for the first time courtesy of pay-television broadcasters SuperSport and SportsMax, respectively.
The event takes place tomorrow (Saturday) at Miami’s Gulfstream Park, with UK-based media-rights agency HBA Media handling the distribution of broadcast rights.
Pay-television broadcaster Sky Sports will once again provide coverage in the UK and Ireland, while Eurosport will cover the event in over 100 European and Asian countries.
Elsewhere in Asia, the event will be covered by Eleven Sports (Taiwan), Shanghai TV, Wuhan TV and Beijing TV (all China) and The Green Channel (Japan).
Cable and satellite sports broadcaster ESPN will continue to deliver the event in Latin America, while Match TV and Silknet will provide coverage in Russia and Georgia, respectively. An exclusive agreement has also been signed with Yas TV in the Middle East.
HBA Media said that enhanced exposure has also been secured with Sports Unlimited for a global magazine programme and SNTV for news access.
Henry Birtles, chief executive at HBA Media, said: “The team has once again successfully distributed an international horseracing event to the maximum global audience, thus ensuring that the Pegasus secures world recognition.”
