Polsat picks up F1 rights

Polish pay-television operator Polsat has acquired media rights for the Formula One motor-racing world championship.

Coverage of practice sessions, qualifying and the races themselves will be shown across the Polsat Sport and Polsat Sport Extra channels.

The deal will run until at least the end of the 2014 campaign.

Marian Kmita, the director of sport at Polsat, said that the deal had been agreed after “long and heavy negotiations.”
