Pay-television operator Premier Sports has agreed a deal with the Stonegate Pub Company to show LaLiga’s dedicated channel, LaLigaTV, at selected venues in the UK.
Stonegate operates 750 sites across the country, and its customers will be able to use the Stonegate We Love Sport app to find a venue showing LaLigaTV.
It is the first pub chain to sign a coverage deal for LaLigaTV.
Stonegate began broadcasting LaLigaTV on January 17 after the launch, last Monday, of the channel on Sky’s platform as part of Premier Sports’ premium offer. Commercial establishments can show LaLiga content through their Sky TV box or through Premier Sports’ Screach streaming solution.
To tie in with the UK launch last week, it was announced that UK pay-television operator Virgin Media had also reached a carriage agreement for LaLiga TV.
Premier Sports acquired exclusive linear and digital rights in the UK and Ireland to LaLiga last September for the three seasons from 2019-20 to 2021-22. The inventory comprises live, delayed and on-demand rights to all Primera División matches and the six-match promotion play-offs as well as highlights and magazine programmes.
In addition to a traditional rights fee arrangement, Premier Sports and LaLiga share LaLigaTV subscription revenues in the UK and Ireland as part of their deal.
