German commercial broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1 has renewed a rights deal for coverage of the NFL American football league.
Alexander Rösner, the head of sport at the broadcaster, said at a press conference that a multi-year deal had been agreed, beginning with the upcoming 2017-18 season.
ProSiebenSat.1’s main channel will show live coverage of games, as well as free-to-air channel ProSieben Maxx.
A new weekly magazine programme called ‘Coach’s Corner’ will also be shown every Tuesday, starting from October 12.
Coverage of the NFL on ProSieben MAXX last season averaged 600,000 viewers and a market share of 10.6 per cent. Coverage of the Super Bowl on February 5 on Sat.1 attracted 1.7 million viewers.
