Italian public-service broadcaster Rai has confirmed it will retain exclusive rights to the 2022 Fifa World Cup, despite Italy failing to qualify for this year’s finals in Qatar.
Italy’s shock defeat to North Macedonia in a European qualifiers play-off in March had led to talk that Rai could seek to sublicence or transfer its rights to the national team football tournament.
