The RDA agency has been appointed as the exclusive agent for international distribution rights to the Super League, the top tier of club rugby league in England.
The four-year deal runs from 2018 to 2021 and excludes the UK, Ireland and France. RDA agreed the contract with pay-television broadcaster Sky, Super League’s global rights-owner.
RDA said the focus of the deal will be on growing the sport’s global broadcast footprint in core markets such as Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. RDA has already secured Super League’s first rights deal with EMTV, a free-to-air broadcaster based in Papua New Guinea.
RDA has also acquired rights from the Rugby Football League for England’s three-Test series against New Zealand in the autumn. England will face off against New Zealand at KCOM Stadium in Hull on October 27, Anfield in Liverpool on November 3 and Elland Road in Leeds on November 11.
