Global broadcast and media services provider Red Bee Media has rebranded as Ericsson Broadcast and Media Services following its takeover by the Swedish communications technology company.
UK-based Red Bee said in a Twitter posting yesterday (Monday) that a “makeover” would result in a new name and look from June 1. However, the change to Ericsson Broadcast and Media Services has already been applied across its website and social media platforms.
In May 2014, Ericsson completed its takeover of Red Bee, whose clients include UK pay-television broadcaster BT Sport, commercial broadcaster ITV, pan-regional pay-television broadcaster Canal Plus and Australian pay-television operator Foxtel.
Ericsson acquired Red Bee from Creative Broadcast Services Holdings – an entity controlled by Macquarie Advanced Investment Partners. The completion of the deal came after Ericsson first announced its intention to acquire Red Bee on July 1, 2013.
Through the takeover, Ericsson gained 1,500 employees as well as media services and operations facilities in the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Australia.
