Lega Serie A will no longer be limited to three-year terms for its international rights deals, after the Italian Council of Ministers approved changes to the Melandri Law, the 2008 law which imposed the collective selling of media rights on professional sport in Italy.

Other procedural restrictions have also been removed but the lifting of the contract length stipulation will serve as the main commercial boost to the league.
