Sky Deutschland adds on-demand football highlights to its platforms

Germany pay-television broadcaster Sky Deutschland has announced that it will be making its German football and Uefa Champions League highlights, along with a host of other sporting properties, available on-demand to all customers on Sky Q and Sky Go platforms.

The move will mean all Sky customers with the Bundesliga package will be able to access highlights of each Bundesliga match broadcast by Sky, along with all matches from the second-tier 2.Bundesliga.

Sky holds rights to 266 exclusive live Bundesliga matches per season in its four-season deal, from 2017-18 to 2020-21, with the German Football League. Bundesliga highlights will be available from midnight of the corresponding match-day, whilst 2.Bundesliga highlights will be available shortly after each match.

Highlights of all domestic cup DFB Pokal and Uefa Champions League matches will also be available shortly after each match.

Sky holds non-exclusive rights to all 63 DFB Pokal matches in a three-season deal, from 2019-20 to 2021-22. It holds Champions League rights in a three-season, from 2018-19 to 2020-21, with Uefa. Sky recently lost out to DAZN and Amazon in the bidding for the new cycle of Champions League rights in Germany (from 2021-22 to 2023-24).

As well as football, Sky will also introduce highlights of golf, tennis and handball events on Sky Q and Sky Go.
