Sky drops Khan-McCloskey fight

Sky had hoped the promoters would accept a low fee in return for the wider audience of a regular Sky Sports channel slot which would help in the build-up to Khan’s planned world title unification fight with American Tim Bradley this summer.

BSkyB had planned to broadcast the fight, which will take place at Manchester’s Men Arena, on one of its Sky Sport channels having earlier decided against offering it in pay-per-view on Sky Box office after disappointing advance sales. The latest decision leaves the promotion in financial turmoil, according to the paper.

The fight, Khan’s fourth defence of his light-welterweight crown, could now end up being broadcast on the pay-per-view platform Primetime TV, which broadcast Carl Froch’s recent Super Six world super-middleweight title fights.
