Pay-television broadcaster Sky has acquired rights in the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe to this month’s West Indies v Ireland one-day and Twenty20 cricket series.
The series, which is hosted in the West Indies, comprises three one-day internationals and three T20 matches.
The first one-day match took place on Tuesday, with the second and third matches scheduled for Thursday and Sunday respectively.
The first T20 match is on January 15, followed by a double-header on the weekend of January 18 and 19.
Rights-holder Cricket West Indies appointed independent production company Whisper Films as host broadcaster for the series.
Ireland’s 2020 fixture schedule has been affected by a combination of financial constraints and logistical issues. It has cancelled a five-match T20 series against Afghanistan and changed a planned home Test against Bangladesh into a T20 match.
Ireland had also been scheduled to play only its fourth-ever Test match against Sri Lanka next month. But Sri Lanka postponed this fixture until later in the year to comply with International Cricket Council requirements that all Test matches be broadcast.
