Sport TV has retained its grip on English Premier League rights in Portugal, a key victory for the broadcaster against new competitor Eleven Sports.
Pay-television broadcaster Sport TV will continue to hold exclusive English Premier League rights for the next three seasons, from 2019-20 to 2021-22.
The new deal means it keeps hold of two of its three crown jewels, along with exclusive rights to domestic football. Sport TV will also hold pay-television rights to the Europa League for three seasons, from 2018-19 to 2020-21.
Pay-television broadcaster Eleven made a dramatic entrance to the Portuguese market earlier this summer, acquiring pay-television rights to the Uefa Champions League and exclusive rights to Spain’s LaLiga and France’s Ligue 1.
It has since acquired rights to the German Bundesliga, from 2018-19 to 2020-21, and Formula One from 2019 to 2021.
