German sports broadcaster Sport1 has agreed a one-year extension to its rights deal for pan-European club ice hockey competition the Champions Hockey League.
Sport1 broadcast the inaugural season of the CHL in 2014-15 and has committed to show at least 10 live games from the 2015-16 campaign on free-to-air television in Germany.
Sport1 said it will broadcast games featuring German clubs in the group stage, as well as select matches from the knockout rounds. Its coverage will commence with the August 20 clash between Krefeld Pinguine and reigning Finnish champions Kärpät Oulu, who reached the semi-finals of the CHL last season.
The deal has been agreed with the Sportsman Media Group agency, which markets the CHL’s media rights in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
