Italian sports broadcaster Sportitalia has renewed its deal for Euroleague basketball for a further three seasons, from 2012-13 to 2014-15.
The broadcaster will show about 100 live games plus news footage across three channels, Sportitalia, Sportitalia 2 and Sportitalia 24. The agreement follows the expiry of a previous three-year deal.
Three Italian teams are competing in the Euroleague this season: Montepaschi Siena, EA7 Emporio Armani Milano and Mapooro Cantu.
Andrea Bassani, Euroleague Basketball’s director of television and new media rights, said: “Continuing this strong relationship with Sportitalia means that Euroleague Basketball retains a truly professional broadcaster with basketball in its DNA. Best of all, due to Sportitalia’s devotion to our competition, Italian fans will continue to get the very best coverage possible.”
Live coverage will be on Sportitalia 1 and Sportitalia 2, both of which are available on digital-terrestrial platforms and the Sky Italia satellite pay-television platform. Sportitalia 24 will provide the news coverage and a weekly magazine programme. The channel is available on digital-terrestrial platforms only.
