Eredivisie Live, the league channel run by the top Dutch football league, the Eredivisie, increased its number of subscribers by 100,000 in the first half of the 2011-12 season.
According to Broadcast Magazine, 570,000 households in the Netherlands now have subscriptions to the channel, which expects to add a further 30,000 new customers in 2012. The increase in subscribers is being put down in part to the development of new mobile and online services as well as successful marketing. The channel launched four years ago with a target of attracting 800,000 subscribers.
Eredivisie Live board member Frank Rutten said the channel, which makes an operational profit, should complete debt repayments to the creditors who funded its creation within the next five years.
