SuperSport, the pay-television broadcaster that operates in sub-Saharan Africa, is to introduce a new channel line-up.
Subscribers to DSTV, the pay-television operator owned by SuperSport’s parent company Multichoice, will now have access to 14 SuperSport channels and one dedicated esports channel.
The SuperSport Select channel has been rebranded as SS10, while DSTV Extra customers will now have more sports channels on SS7 and SS8. In addition, SS11 and SS12 will serve as overflow platforms for the broadcaster.
The channels will include a range of sports, including the Spanish LaLiga top-tier club football competition, which will feature on SS7.
Meanwhile, the Ginx eSports TV channel, which is currently available on DSTV Now, will feature on DSTV channel 240. Subscribers to DSTV Premium, Extra and Compact will be able to access the channel.
The new channel line-up, which will be introduced on July 4, comes at a time when SuperSport is facing increasing pressure from pay-television operator Kwesé TV in the African market.
Kwesé TV has picked up rights to a number of major sporting events in recent months, including the 2018 Fifa World Cup national team football tournament and the English Football League.
