The Damallsvenskan, the top division of women’s club football in Sweden, has launched a new online video platform in partnership with sports-rights agency Spring Media.
Damallsvenskan.tv will stream live coverage of all 132 matches during the 2016 season. All matches will be streamed in HD with graphics, replays and Swedish commentary.
Matches will be available on a pay-per-view basis or through a monthly subscription. The first live match that will be streamed on the platform will be Rosengård vs. Kristianstads on April 16.
The new platform will also offer additional video content including highlights, interviews and archive footage from the 2015 season.
Spring Media will be responsible for advisory and project management of the platform, with Sportsground overseeing production and Solidtango working on platform development. Revenue collected from the venture will be shared between Damallsvenskan clubs.
Elite Football Women, a Swedish organisation that focuses on the development of elite players in the country, will own and control the platform.
Linda Wijkström, general secretary at Elite Football Women, said: “With Damallsvenskan.tv, we have opened up Damallsvenskan to a global audience and fan base.”
