French commercial broadcasters TF1 and M6 have jointly acquired free-to-air rights in the country to selected matches from next summer’s Euro 2020 football championship.
The broadcasters will share coverage of 23 matches out of the total of 51 that will be played at the tournament, which takes place from June 12 to July 12 across 12 European countries.
The inventory comprises 12 group-stage matches, including the opening match and those of the French national team; five round-of-16 matches; three quarter-finals; the two semi-finals; and the final.
TF1 and M6 will agree on the distribution of the 23 matches after the draw for the group-stage, which will take place on Saturday.
The pair have shared free-to-air broadcast rights to the European Championship since 2008.
Rights-holder Uefa and its sales agency CAA Eleven have yet to place pay-television rights in France to Euro 2020.
The successful broadcaster would have pay-television rights to all matches in the tournament, including exclusive rights to 28 matches.
Qatar-based broadcaster beIN held the pay-television rights in France to the last two European Championships.
