Time Warner Cable SportsNet strikes deal with West Coast Conference

Southern California regional cable-television broadcaster Time Warner Cable SportsNet has acquired rights for US college sports body the West Coast Conference.

The length of the ‘long-term’ agreement was not disclosed, but the deal will start immediately.

The broadcaster will show a minimum of 15 men’s basketball games live from the conference during the 2012-13 season, as well as other sporting events involving southern California universities including Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, BYU, Gonzaga, Saint Mary’s and the University of San Diego.

Weekly highlights programmes will complement most of the live game broadcasts.

Time Warner Cable SportsNet launched alongside Spanish-language regional cable-television broadcaster TimeWarner Cable Deportes on October 1. The two networks are currently distributed on Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks and will soon be available on fellow pay-television platforms Charter, Verizon FiOS and AT&T U-verse.
