Twitter has struck a deal with the Mediapro agency and Liga de Fútbol Profesional that will allow action from the top-tier Liga football division in Spain to be shown on the social networking website.
The action will be available through the @LaLiga handle and will be pushed through the Amplify tool, which allows updates or ‘tweets’ to be accompanied by videos in real time.
The highlights clips will be available on a global basis “almost as soon as they occur,” the Liga said.
The clips will also include player interviews and other content before and after games as well as action during the matches.
Last year, Twitter agreed a similar deal with American football’s NFL. Twitter's Amplify platform allows content owners to distribute programming in users’ Twitter feeds, with short adverts embedded.
