US sports broadcaster Universal Sports Network, a subsidiary of the NBC network, has renewed its rights deal for cycling’s Vuelta a España, for four years, from 2013 to 2016.
The four-year deal with rights-holders Unipublic covers television, internet and mobile rights across the US and Canada.
The Vuelta, which takes place in August and September is one of cycling’s three grand tours – the other two are the Giro d’Italia, in May, and the Tour de France, in July. Universal currently holds the rights to the Giro d’Italia, while sister channel NBC Sports Network shows the Tour de France.
