US broadcaster Univision has been named as the Spanish-language rights holder in the United States for the Copa América Centenario national team football tournament, which will take place in the country in June 2016.
The agreement between Univision and the Copa América Centenario’s commercial rights holder WeMatch was announced as the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (Concacaf) and South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) unveiled the competition’s new logo in Miami.
The United States was this month confirmed as the host nation for a 2016 Copa America, with the special edition of the tournament set to mark the centenary of Conmebol.
It will be the first time the championship has been played outside South America, with the USA and Mexico joining the 10 Conmebol nations and four further Concacaf qualifiers to be determined by the results of the 2014 Copa Centroamericana, 2014 Caribbean Cup and 2015 Concacaf Gold Cup.
The Copa América Centenario will be held in cities across the United States, kicking off on June 3, 2016 and culminating with the final on June 26.
