US media company NBCUniversal has struck an agreement with Verizon FiOS that will allow its channels to be carried on the IPTV operator and shown via the TV Everywhere internet television initiative.
All of NBCU’s channels, including the Golf Channel and NBC Sports Network pay-television channels, are included in the carriage deal.
TV Everywhere is an industry initiative in the US which encourages pay-television subscribers to register their subscriptions online so they can access pay-television content over the internet as well as via cable or satellite television at no extra charge.
“This comprehensive agreement benefits our viewers and Verizon’s FiOS TV customers by making programming available across NBCUniversal’s vast content portfolio wherever the viewer goes on any device,” NBCU’s executive vice-president of content distribution, Matt Bond, said.
