Viaplay, the subscription streaming service operated by Nordic Entertainment (Nent) Group, has made its most significant UK rights acquisition to date by landing rights to the 2026 Fifa World Cup and 2028 Uefa European Championship qualifiers featuring Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
The deal, which runs from 2024-25 to 2027-28, also includes the trio of ‘home nations’ sides’ matches in the Uefa Nations League, the Nations League finals (in 2025 and 2027) and centralised international friendlies. The wider package of over 800 matches also includes third-party rights to competitive and friendly matches. This package excludes England’s fixtures but will include the games of other heavyweight Uefa nations.
