World Sport Group extends Singapore Open deal as rights talks continue

The World Sport Group agency has renewed a deal to promote the Singapore Open golf tournament for five years, from 2013 to 2017.

The renewal covers the tournament’s exclusive worldwide commercial rights, but World Sport Group said that talks regarding “worldwide broadcast rights are still under negotiation.”

World Sport Group struck the deal with the Singapore Golf Association, which operates the competition.

“We are pleased to have signed a new agreement with World Sport Group and are confident that the tournament is in very safe hands,” association president Bob Tan said.

Chris Jordan, World Sport Group’s senior vice-president of golf, added: “In just eight years, the Singapore Open has grown to become Asia’s most prominent national Open and one of the world’s most prestigious golf events.”
