Like many football fans, I am slowly coming to terms with a World Cup-shaped hole at the centre of my existence. The 2014 competition in Brazil became the focal point in the lives of billions of people around the globe. For most of us, it was unquestionably an exciting World Cup which threw up some unforgettable matches. But there’s nothing like a World Cup for reminding you how much people can disagree about the broadcasting of a sports event.
