North America’s Major League Baseball has confirmed renewals of a swathe of rights deals for the new 2016 season.
The league has renewed deals with pay-television broadcasters MBC Sports Plus in South Korea, Televisa in Mexico, Bell TV in Canada, beIN Sports in France, BT Sport in the UK, DirecTV in Latin America and the Caribbean, iN Demand in several Caribbean countries, Fox Sports Asia, FC Center in Venezuela, FTV in Taiwan, Megacable in Mexico, Sport5 in Israel, Teletica in Costa Rica, UTS in Curacao, Win Sports in Colombia, Radio Marti in Cuba and the Dentsu agency in Japan.
New agreements were also reached covering the 2016 season with Telemicro in the Dominican Republic and Ole Communications in Venezuela.
The league sealed additional carriage deals for pay-television channel MLB Network to be available on Cable Onda in Panama and TDS in Curacao.
The renewal with Dentsu, a partner since 1990 and the longest-running MLB international media partner, will run through to the 2020 season. Television networks that will show games in Japan through sublicensing agreements with Dentsu include NHK, TBS, Fuji TV, J Sports, TV Asahi and TV Tokyo.
The Televisa agreement will run until 2018, expanding a deal to include games on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights as well as Saturdays.
