French pay-television broadcaster Canal Plus has agreed an exclusive carriage deal with pan-European sports broadcaster Eurosport.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Canal Plus said the Eurosport and Eurosport 2 channels will be carried on its CanalSat satellite platform from the spring of 2015.
Canal Plus added that the deal is exclusive, with the exception of cable networks, to “metropolitan France”.
The agreement will grant CanalSat subscribers access to the array of sports rights held by Eurosport.
These include tennis grand slams the Australian Open, French Open and US Open; cycling’s Tour de France, Vuelta a Espana and UCI World Tour events; along with domestic football in the shape of the Coupe de France and Ligue 2, as well as the Fifa Women’s World Cup.
