CSI Sports makes Belgian move with Sport 10 deal

Media company CSI Sports, the owner of pay-television channel Fight Sports, has acquired the Sport 10 channel in Belgium.

CSI Sports said the acquisition continues a long-term plan to create new opportunities to build its business, and the Fight Sports brand globally. Fight Sports currently operates across Europe and the Asia-Pacific region, with carriage in more than 30 countries despite launching less than three years ago.

CSI Sports’ co-chief executives, Richard Miele and Craig Miele, said: “Sport 10 is one of only three basic sports channels on the Proximus platform and has a valuable EPG position that provides great access to a significant audience for the purpose of growing our Belgium business.”

The acquisition will allow CSI Sports to tap into the 1.3m subscribers on pay-television operator Proximus’s platform.

Fight Sports last month broadcast Anthony Joshua’s (pictured) successful defence of his IBF heavyweight boxing title against undefeated American challenger Dominic Breazeale. It offered the fight at London’s O2 Arena in a number of territories, including the markets of Australia, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Spain, France and the Caribbean.
