Media and entertainment company Discovery Communications has appointed Arthur Bastings as the new head of its Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific regional division.
Bastings joins Discovery from global telecommunications and media company Millicom, where he was a member of the executive committee responsible for Africa and financial services.
He will replace Arjan Hoekstra, the former Eurosport executive who left the international sports broadcaster, which is owned by Discovery, in March.
It will be Bastings’ second spell with Discovery, having previously headed up the company’s European, Middle East and African division for six years until his departure in 2010.
Bastings, who will report directly to Discovery president Jean-Birac Perrette, will begin his new role on September 1.
